Privacy Notice
The short one.
The Terms of Service run to many thousands of words. This page doesn't, and where the two describe the same practice, this page is the plain account of it.
Who we are
Mirror Protocol at areyouapsychopath.com is run by Burns and Short Holdings. Questions go to legal@areyouapsychopath.com.
What we store
When you finish the quiz, we save one record containing:
- your fifteen answers, as letters, and the scores computed from them;
- which version of the terms you accepted and how many milliseconds you took to accept them;
- whether you entered the phrase hidden in the terms;
- the result you arrived from, if a friend's link sent you;
- a two-letter country code, worked out by our host from the connection, and a campaign tag if the link carried one.
The record gets a random ten-character ID, which is the address of your result page.
What we don't
No name, email address, account, IP address, precise location, device fingerprint or browser user-agent string is saved with your result. We don't sell or rent data, and we don't run advertising.
Who can see a result
Anyone with the link. That is the point of a share link, so share it with that in mind. Result pages ask search engines not to index them. Totals across all results (how many people took the quiz, how many got each type, how many found the hidden phrase) are shown on the site without attaching them to anyone.
On your device
Your browser keeps three small notes for this site: that you've accepted the terms and how fast (so retakes skip the dialog), the IDs of results you created (so your own result page shows you the share buttons rather than a prompt to take the quiz), and your answers in progress, which are cleared when you close the tab. These never leave your device. You can clear them by clearing this site's data in your browser.
Service providers
The site is hosted on Vercel and the database runs on Neon. Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights count page views, a few named events (starting, finishing, sharing) and page performance in aggregate, without cookies. Vercel BotID checks that the answers came from a browser rather than a script. Each provider processes data on our behalf under its own terms.
Keeping and deleting
Results are kept while the site runs. To have yours deleted, email us the result link. Because nothing ties a result to you, the link is the only way we can find it, and we'll delete it without asking who you are.
Children
The quiz is meant for adults and isn't directed at children. You need to be at least 13 to accept the terms.
Changes
If these practices change, this page changes with them and the date at the top moves.
